Weimar College reopened on January 20, 2009 with 12 students. This comes following a break for reorganizing during the Fall 2008 semester. The College is currently offering classes for the Health A.S. degree and the Health Certificate Program. Dr. Karen Jensen is again offering Creation and Science, a course well-known among former College students for its Biblical foundation, scientific rigor and sheer challenge.

Beginning fall semester 2009, the College plans to offer degrees and certificates in Multimedia Ministries and Religion (including a four-year Religion B.S. degree). A Pre-Medical preparatory course is being set up for students planning to enter medical school.

Weimar College students are sharing the campus with 57 AFCOE (Amazing Facts College of Evangelism) students who started their program on January 22. The two schools are partnering in other ways, as well. The semester began with a combined Convocation weekend immediately followed by Week of Prayer. College and AFCOE students associate together during meals, spiritual meetings, and social activities. The mix creates a positive atmosphere for both groups.

At least 8 of the current College students have attended AFCOE, and others are graduates of comparable short-term programs. The College seeks to recruit students who have attended an intense short-term evangelistic program like AFCOE so they are better prepared for the rigorous programs that the College offers.

Sixty-four (64) students attended the week long AFCOE to Go program on campus just prior to the start of the regular College and AFCOE sessions. Several flew in especially for AFCOE to Go from places as far away as the United Kingdom and South America. The graduates, ages 18 to 80, left the session ready to go back to their home churches and work for God.

This sounds like an excellent program for rebuilding Weimar College. I am excited about the unique educational programs that the college will offer.
